PC Case – Be quiet! Dark Base 700 overview

Dimensions | 241 x 519 x 544 mm (W x W x D) |
Weight | 13.25 kg |
Max graphics card length | 286/430mm (w/o HDD cage) |
Max cooler height | 180mm |
Fan speed controller | 6x 4-pin, Step Controller, PWM hub |
Motherboard support | E-ATX (30.5 x 27.5cm), ATX, M-ATX, Mini-ITX |
The be quiet brand has been known since 2002, but the company began to deal with cases only three and a half years ago. Moreover, be quiet! Do not belong to the mass market; the manufacturer intends them for enthusiasts. All those who prefer the product’s compliance with the highest standards, which is read even in the announcements for each of the three series of cases currently being produced, then consider Be quiet! Dark Base 700 because it is declared as high-end, silent base premium, and pure base as essential.
The color of the case is still one – completely black, but the presence of several color options for the other two representatives of the series suggests that other colors will appear for this model as well.
In terms of equipment, we note not too many external USB ports, which are partially offset by the presence of a Type-C connector. Some potential buyers may complain about the lack of 3.5- and 5.25-inch slots with access to the front panel: devices with such an installation have already become a rarity, but the need for them has not yet been reduced to zero.
The design of the Dark Base 700, like that of the other two cases in the series, is classically austere: flat surfaces with rounded corners and chamfered transitions, matte black exterior details. The design uses tinted glass for one of the sidewalls and different metals: steel for the second side, anodized aluminum trim on the front panel, and the top cover is entirely aluminum.
- Motherboard tray and HDD slots with enhanced possibilities for individual requirements
- Two be quiet! Silent Wings 3 140mm PWM fans
- 4-Step dual-rail fan controller is switchable between silence and performance mode
- Ready for radiators up to 360mm
Verdict:
To conclude, it is difficult to argue with the position of the manufacturer regarding the be quiet! Dark Base 700 to the High-End category. As in the case with the older model, it is difficult to find fault with anything: both the design and construction are well thought out. We did not find any serious claims in terms of execution, and minor comments will be typed on any product.
More unpleasant is the impossibility of realizing in practice the potential for placing drives in the design: the declared maximum of 17 disks will require additional containers, but, as often happens, they are not seen in retail sales. The only consolation is that the nine available places for most of the possible configurations will be more than enough.
Power Supply – Corsair AX1000 80+ Titanium overview

Max. DC Output | 1000 W |
Efficiency | 80 PLUS Titanium |
Total power | 1000 watts |
Fan | 135 mm |
Operating Temperature | 0 °C – 50 °C |
Dimensions | 152 mm (W) x 87 mm (H) x 172 mm (D) |
Weight | 2.06 kg |
Corsair has updated its flagship PSU series with two models, the AX850 and AX1000. New items should be perceived precisely as an extension of existing power supply units, although they have several differences from other products in the series. First of all, there is a noticeable lack of a USB interface to ensure compatibility with Corsair software. Another highlight is the collaboration with another manufacturing partner, Seasonic, on new models.
In appearance, the new items are also noticeably different from other models in the series, they look as useful as possible, and this suggests that we have products for a workstation rather than for gaming or home computers.
Corsair unveiled an updated line of its high-end AX PSUs at CES 2019. A distinctive feature of the new AX is the increase in efficiency to 80 PLUS Titanium; otherwise, Corsair has decided to stick to the proven concept of its predecessor. The new “AX Series Titanium” line includes two 850W (CP-9020151-EU) and 1000W (CP-9020152-EU) models.
- 80+ Titanium Certified for the highest level of efficiency and performance
- Zero RPM fan mode for near-silent operation at low to medium loads
- World Class electrical performance for incredibly stable voltages and ultra-low ripple noise
- 135mm cooling fan with true FDB Bearing delivers Low-Noise operation even at demanding loads
Verdict:
To conclude, the Corsair AX1000 is the minimalist’s choice in design and appearance: no frills, bulbs, or bright colors, just black in the design. This PSU looks more like a practical work tool than a trendy product for gaming systems. Corsair AX1000 belongs to the segment of premium solutions, but its premium is cost and consumer qualities, and performance, which is not always the case.
We are giving the Corsair AX1000 PSU this month’s Editorial Award for original design and near-excellent consumer qualities. The rest of the Corsair AX1000 features are switchable semi-passive fan controllers, fully modular cabling, and great equipment beyond expectations.
